Join us for a special two-part pottery workshop featuring guest artist Andra Bouman, who will teach you how to create a stunning hand-painted serving set inspired by timeless black and white check patterns.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced maker, this hands-on workshop will guide you through each step of designing, building, and painting your own unique stoneware pieces.

What You’ll Make

You will create a custom stoneware serving set using hand-painted black and white decorative techniques.

You’ll choose one of the following set options:

·         Four 7" x 7" serving plates total, including your painted sample plate

·         Two 7" x 7" serving plates and one 7" x 12" serving platter

Session Details

Part 1: Saturday, August 29, 2026

Time: 10:30–12:30

Andra will demonstrate and provide step-by-step instruction as you design and hand-paint your first 7" x 7" serving plate. This piece will serve as your inspiration and guide for completing the rest of your collection.

Working alongside the MHC girls, you’ll learn how to roll out stoneware clay slabs, use forms to shape your pieces, and prepare them for firing. Your work will then be bisque fired and ready for the second session.

Part 2: Saturday, September 12, 2026

Time: 10:30–12:30

Return to complete your handmade serving set as Andra guides you through painting your bisque-fired pieces using the same black and white decorative techniques introduced in the first class.
